For the first time in Ukraine on the base of the State Clinical Research Center of Telemedicine of Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Kiev) and the trans-Carpathian Regional Clinical Hospital (Uzhgorod) specialists from the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of Sciences of Ukraine held remote consultation of children with congenital heart from the Carpathian region. This event, took place on March 16, 2010, was made possible thanks to the support and the direct of the Deputy Minister of Health, m. d., professor Lazorishinets Vasily and MTS. During 2 hours eminently qualified specialists from the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of Sciences of Ukraine remotely consulted children 2 weeks to 15 years old with congenital heart disease.
State Clinical Research Telemedicine Center provided technical support for a teleconsultation, and with the assistance Mr. Yatsina Yuri, head physician of the trans-Carpathian Regional Hospital, have been selected children who has been need necessary surgery. Young patients from trans-Carpathia presented doctor of the highest category of the trans-Carpathian Region Children's Hospital (Mukachevo) Petrishina Tatiana. Knowing all the details of their patients' illnesses and quickly orient about this specialist NAICVS, in general this teleconsultation was an extremely efficient, both in time and quality of its implementation. Parents and grandparents of children were happy not only because their 2-week years old children didn’t had to overcome the heavy travel and long queues to get highly qualified consultations, but also the fact that their children are advised immediately four professionals: Head Physician NAICVS, m. d. Siromakha Sergey, head of the surgical treatment of congenital heart defects in infants and young children NAICVS, PhD Truba Yaroslav, cardiologist higher category, Honoured Doctor of Ukraine Rudenko Maya, physician-surgeon interventional , Didkovskiy Igor. Development of distance counseling patients requiring tertiary care, from any region of Ukraine will bring the highly skilled and specialized care professionals from leading medical centers in remote areas and essentially save the costs of such assistance. Thus, the telemedicine network is the foundation for building a unified medical space, and aim is to unite together all the elements of health care. As noted by the head physician of the State Clinical Research Center for Telemedicine Health of Ukraine, Vitaliy Ostashko, signing of the Memorandum between the U. N. O. Office in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health and MTS allowed to begin creation of the Ukrainian telemedicine network that will provide a systematic approach to the development of telemedicine and will bring together similar initiatives in the regions of Ukraine.
